OOC: This thread is for Yami and Gary's battle, and it occurs second in roleplay time. Yami should post first. He also has the first move. IC: The first battle had been completed. After the break, Principal Sash stepped back onto the battlefield, Maya trotting by her side. "Next up, we have Yami and Gary!" she said into the microphone. She stepped back again as she waited for the trainers to appear. |

Soft steps echoed as Yami made his way into the arena. His attire having changed for the occasion. He was dressed in a formal kimono with a black torso and white lower. The sleeves much like his regular attire where lengthened allowing them to flow past his finger tips, the ends of his sleeves having a soft white trim to them. Beneath his sleeves his hands were wrapped by fingerless white gloves. Tied around his waist a purple obi sash tied in a formal bow at the back. He wore black tabi socks with straw white waraji and had a long flowing black haori that sat upon his shoulders. For the event he had decided to keep his hair down instead of putting it into a ponytail like he often would for formal events, thus allowing his hair to flow down his back adding an air of elegance and grace with his steps.
His grey hues lingered upon the field as he made his way towards his position. He brushed a strand of hair to the side keeping a calm expression as he removed a pokeball from his belt. He allowed the sphere to enlarge before he let it loose, throwing the sphere high into the air. The pokeball struck the ground splitting open allowing a ray of white light to shoot out and begin to take the shape of his chosen battle companion for the day. The light took the shape of a blue bipedal reptilian like pokemon. The dragon type opened his eyes and gave a mighty cry as he pounded his chest, "Seiryuu you know what to do" commanded Yami in a soft tone. The bagon known as Seiryuu turned to his partner and nodded a grin beginning to form as his lust for battle began to rise.

Gary Oak had made it to the second round of the tournament. He was proud of his accomplishments thus far. he knew his opponent had not had to battle yet. This was going to be interesting. He walked into the Battle Area with his head held high. He was ready for this. He swept his eyes across the area to search for his teammates. He would not let them down. He took his place opposite his opponent on the battlefield. He took a moment to look him over. He appeared tough, but this did not worry him. Though his Bagon looked strong, Gary knew he had the skills to take on any challenge.
He thought for a minute about which Pokemon he should choose. He had trained a couple for this occasion so that he would have options. From experience, he decided a flying type would be best for its ability to dodge many attacks. "Come on out, Scout," he said, tossing a Pokeball into air. A Farfetch'd appeared and immediately took flight. Scout swooped down to land on the ground. There was a challenging gleam in his eye as he stared at the Bagon. Gary's eyes met Yami's. "Ready?" He was.

Yami tucked a strand of hair behind his left ear as his opponent called out a farfetch'd named scout. Yami merely glanced at Gary when he asked if he was ready. Yami glanced at Seiryuu and nodded his head indicating for the dragon pokemon to begin the battle. The dragon pokemon licked his lips as he turned to the flying type pokemon watching the challenging gleam in its eye. He didn't know if the pokemon was weaker or stronger than him so he would have to be sure not to underestimate the bird like pokemon, so the best thing to do would be to boost his speed and strength.
Seiryuu began his move by letting his legs start before his entire body began to dance and move as he started up his dragon dance boosting his strength and speed. The dragon grinned as he slowly lowered his head allowing his love for battle begin to over take him as anger began to fill his veins as his rage began to form. Bagon released a battle cry in the form of a dragons roar as he charged forth to ram into the flying pokemon with his rage attack.

Gary saw Yami nod at his question. Though he did not give out any orders, his Pokemon seemed to be initiating an attack. That was a bit odd, but now was not the time to judge another's battling style. He had to focus on winning. "Dodge and use Leer and Poison Jab!" Dodging was fairly easy at this point, but he knew it would get more difficult later on. It was always good to start off with Leer to lower his opponent's defense. The trainer liked Poison Jab as well because it gave damage and could be useful if the other Pokemon became poisoned. It was all about strategy.
Scout did not know what the Bagon's dancing about, but it made him wary. He had to be prepared for anything. When Seiryuu started towards him, the Farfetch'd used his speed to fly high in the air, above the range of his attack. He immediately leered down at the Pokemon. <Ha!> He could so do this. He turned around in the air and swept down to attack from behind, his beak glistening with poison.

Seiryuu ignored the remark made by the Farfetch'd uninterested in any form of banter during battle he preferred t merely remained silent and let his power do the talking. He skidded along the ground as the flying pokemon leered at him to lower his defence. He merely shrugged it off not really caring as long as he bolstered his attack and speed he should be able to gain an advantage against the opposing pokemon. He lowered his hardened skull allowing it to make contact with the beak coated in poison.
He used his hardened skull to absorb most of the impact of the blow as he slid back a few inches. He lifted his head with a grin as he began to dance again further increasing his attack strength and speed. He licked his lips as the lust for battle began to grow. His body began to shake with an unrelenting rage as his anger grew stronger by the second, it was time to strike back.
The little dragon kicked off the ground with his right leg as he shot forth his speed having doubled now as he raced towards the flying pokemon. Seiryuu pushed off the ground with his leg left leaping up into the air heading towards the flying pokemon to slam into it with his rage. He would definitely need to learn a long range attack after this.

Hmm... Gary could see he was going to have to find another way to get at this Bagon. he was faster now, and he partially hit Scout with his own attack. For right now, the trainer decided to go with the Farfetch'd's one attack that never missed. He was wary of using his strongest attack since it dealt damage to the user as well. If it came to it, though, he would have to go for it. He knew his Pokemon would not object to taking a risk in the pursuit of victory. "Alright, Scout, use Leer and Ariel Ace!" He would have to continuously use Leer if he wanted his attacks to do any real damage.
After hitting the Bagon, Scout immediately flew up into the air. Unfortunately, his attack had not seemed to poison his opponent, but he could try again later. He attempted to dodge the Rage attack, but the Bagon managed to hit the lower part of his body, dealing our some damage. Enraged, the flying type turned and leered at the dragon again. he was not about to let him win! He flew up high into the air. Then he shot himself straight down, accelerating as he aimed for the Bagon.

Bagon gritted his teeth as he dug his claws into the earth as the flying pokemon struck him with an aerial ace. Seiryuu was not going to allow himself to lose this battle, he was going to win in order to be closer to his goal of one day evolving into a Salamence and taking to the skies in flight. He shook his head as he began his dancing again, if he wanted an edge he would need to boost his attack and speed to the maximum. The blow from the aerial ace however had not only knocked him about but boosted his rage attack increasing its strength.
His rage bubbled to the surface growing as he released a dragon like roar. He pounded his chest with his tiny arms and began his charge. His speed increased again triple that of his regular movements as he sped towards the flying pokemon. He kicked off the ground lunging at the bird like creature in the attempt to ram it with his rage again.[/p

Gary watched as his Pokemon was barely able to fly up out of his opponent's grasp. He could see that the Bagon's speed was increasing each time he did that dance. His next attack would probably hit, so the trainer planned to counter that. "Scout, now use Sand Attack and Fury Cutter!" If the damaging attack hit, they could try it again to increase its power. The battle was going slow and steady, and he knew he could win.
Scout was triumphant that his attack had hit again. he immediately flew high into the air, zooming around to just miss the Bagon's rage. <Ha!> He could not get him while he was in the sky. At Gary's word, he swooped down and blew sand at his opponent to lower his accuracy. Try hitting him now! Then he got closer and started attacking him with his leek.

Bagon sneered at his foe as the bird continued to fly up into the air, he really needed to learn a long range attack for foes like these, especially bird like pokemon who had the advantage of flight, curse his inability to fly of his current evolution. Seiryuu readied himself for the incoming attack as the flying pokemon swooped down to blow up sand. He quickly thought on his feet and shut his eyes as the sand struck him, he closed his eyes in order to prevent complete loss of his visual aid. On the side lines Yami was thinking of a modified training session designed to help when his pokemon lost the ability of sight in battle. Seiryuu dug his feet in as the first leek strike connected with him in order to prevent his body from sliding back. As the second collided he leapt backwards in order to avoid further attacks from the flying pokemon. He cursed his luck as he opened his eyes locking onto the bird creature his rage building as he danced again using his dragon dance coming close to maximising his attack and speed once more and he would be at max. His anger had built up from the blows from the Farfetch'd further increasing the raw strength of his rage attack. He gave a battle crowd and lunged forth to ram into the bird again with even greater force. Had the Bagon closed his eyes? No matter. The attack had to have had some effect, and they would use it to their advantage. "Use Leer and Poison Jab!" Hopefully, the attack would poison their opponent this time. If not, they would have to try another attack. There were still a couple left that had not been used.
Scout did not like that his Sand Attack was thwarted. He did his best to swerve out of the way and fly high again. He was glad the Bagon did not have an attack that could reach him up there. However, he knew the dragon type's speed would get to him eventually. He would make the best of what he had right now. He leered at the other Pokemon and then flew down to jab him with his beak.

Bagon sneered as scout flew back into the air, these wings were getting annoying he would have to try and clip them. He began his dance again as the opposing pokemon utilised his leer to drop his defence, as long as his speed and attack were strong he would not lose. Seiryuu licked his lips as the bird pokemon flew down to strike him head on with his beak for another poison jab. His muscles tensed as he timed the attack waiting patiently for the bird to get in close. He was going to take the blow but it would prepare him for what he needed to do. As the bird made contact he dug his feet in not budging in inch as he gave a battle cry. His jaws opened wide as he brought them down aiming towards the bird pokemon's left wing in the attempt to use his bite attack. His goal was to bite down hard on the wing and not let go in the hopes that if his attack made contact he would prevent the bird from escaping and remove its ability to fly temporarily. The added effect that by keeping a hold of the bird would allow him to hit him with some point blank moves. So, the Bagon was switching things up a bit. This was not good. He had clamped down on Scout's wing, and it looked like he was not going to let go. Well, they were just going to have to make him let go. The trainer already had anticipated something like this, and he had a solution. It was time for a close-range attack. "Stay calm, Scout. Use Fury Attack!"
Scout was pleased his attack had been successful. However, when he tried to fly away again, he found that something was pulling on his wing. It was the Bagon! He turned and glared at him, using Leer without a command. He had no problem obeying Gary. He used all of his anger and fury to fuel his attack, and he jabbed the Bagon with his beak, planning to keep it up until he let him go.

Seiryuu gritted his teeth keeping them dug into the flying pokemons wing not letting it budge at all from his grip. He dug his feet into the ground keeping himself dug in as the flying pokemon began to strike him with a fury attack after using its leer. He tensed his body letting the blows connect. He grinned as his leg muscles contracted it was time to try and finish this battle once and for all. He let his anger began to build with each blow from the fury attack letting it fuel his power as he pushed forth with his legs aiming to push the flying pokemon into the ground where using the momentum of the fall would crash on top of him with a full brunt rage attack up close and personal. With the fall Seiryuu would release his grip on the wing in the hopes his bite had done enough damage to prevent the bird pokemon from getting air born. Gary could see what was going to happen, and he reacted quickly. "Try to roll over by using Sand Attack!" If Scout felt the full force of the attack, he would surely be knocked out. Thankfully, he was able to escape with only partial damage. He would not be able to take much more, though. Gary decided it was time to risk everything on their last move. "Use Brave Bird!" Since the Bagon was poisoned, this powerful attack might be enough to do him in. If not, the recoil damage could be the end for Scout. He could see no other way to win. It was all or nothing now.
Scout continued to attack though the Bagon would not let him go. When he used his legs to jump up, the Farfetch'd used all of his strength to roll to the side, using his free wing to fling up sand in his opponent's face. He was still struck by Rage, but the damage could have been worse. When he was finally free, he tried flapping his injured wing to inspect the damage. He probably could not fly high, but his next attack was low-range anyway. He took a deep breath before flying up a little. Then he descended upon the Bagon, using the last of his energy for Brave Bird.
