Picnic Fun [Mod]

Kiki decided to have a picnic out at the park with all of her Pokemon. Once she arrived at the park, Alice helped her set up since she was busy holding her egg. the Bayleef straightened the blanket on the ground, and then her trainer carefully set the egg down. Next, the two got started on the picnic basket. Soon, everything was set up. Before Kiki could take out the rest of her Pokemon, however, the egg began to shake. She let out a small gasp. Now it was beginning to glow. Alice scrambled over to watch. Both had seen this before, so they knew what was happening. The egg was about to hatch. |

The glowing soon lessened, and the egg broke open. A baby Delibird poked it's head out and pushed the egg shells away. She looked around curiously. When she saw Kiki, she smiled. Kiki grinned at the Delibird that appeared. She was simply adorable. "Hello there," she said in a soft voice. "I'm Kiki. I'm your trainer. This is Alice, Cody, Ella, Crunch, and Penelope." She pointed to the Chikorita, Lillipup, Eevee, Blitzle, and Seel in turn. "I think I'll call you Haley. We were just about to have a picnic. Come on and eat. You must be hungry." She smiled reassuringly at the baby. It was going to be such a joy to raise her.
<Come on,> Alice said with a smile of her own. She walked beside Haley until she was on the picnic basket. Then she held out a piece of Pokemon food for her, which she took. All six Pokemon were now sitting around and eating. The trainer reached for a sandwich herself. Would anything disturb them? OOC: I'm ready for a wild Pokemon.  |

Watching from afar hidden within the brush of a not so afar bush where two eyes. The eyes belonged to a Phanpy who had been watching the trainer and her pokemon for some time. He had seen them as they entered the park and where as he normally stayed away from humans the long nosed pokemon had found himself interested, and curious into why the human had an egg with her. Surely she did not lay that herself! Oh, but maybe the pokemon she had with her did? However, has he looked at the newly hatched pokemon greet the world he highly doubted the grass type was the mother of the bird looking pokemon. Oh, but as quickly has his attention had been to catch with the egg, it soon changed. He looked now not at the newly hatched pokemon, but at the food as the big group of pokemon sat with their trainer eating. Lifting his trunk Phanpy wondered if he could get any of that. Just then his stomach grumbled, no roared. Sounding more like some dangerous pokemon growling them a very hungry belly Phanpy decided it was now or never. Charging from the bush he made a bee line for the group, his eyes closed and he looked like he would run right into them, but as he opened his eyes he came to a complete halt within two feet of everyone. Yet he landed within a foot of them thanks to tripping and flipping over, in a half roll. Standing up, the small pokemon dusted of some dirt before becoming stock still and staring at everyone. Oh dear he had gotten closer then he had meant to and was now unsure of what to do.

At the loud sound, everyone enjoying the picnic turned to see what was going on. They stared at the Phanpy for several moments before reacting. Haley eyed the new creature curiously but stayed by Alice. The Chikorita gave him a slight smile. <Hello,> she said, sensing his sudden awkwardness.
Cody and Crunch pushed their way to the front of the group. Both of them eyed the stranger in interest. The Blitzle seemed fascinated by the creature, while the Lillipup said energetically, <Hi! Who are you? Do you want to play?>
<You're ruining our picnic!> Penelope retorted. She rolled her eyes dramatically, obviously not enjoying the interruption.
<Maybe he's just hungry,> Ella said from behind her. She smiled at the Phanpy. <Hello. Don't be frightened. We're not going to hurt you.>
Kiki was unsure what to do as she watched her Pokemon interact with the ground type. He seemed unsure what to do himself. Had he been trying to steal food? "Hello," she said slowly. She decided to wait and see if he could find his voice. He did not seem like much of a threat at the present. |

Standing there he was unsure what to do. He had been spotted, but then again with that entrance who could really miss him. Finally he moved, stepping back he made himself look smaller, and looked at everyone shyly. <I..I..um..s..sorry.> He said softly, and politely stuttering to get the words out. It was just about that time that a loud growl came from his stomach. Hopefully that wasn't taken as an attack or a threat against any of them. He wasn't trying to make enemies here. <I. Yay!> He then exclaimed quickly after someone asked if he wanted to play. <I'd love to play! How about a battle?> He asked swinging his trunk around happily.
Hearing the other pokemon say he was ruining their time he dunked down again. <I..didn't mean too.> He said looking at the Seel. Then the human spoke and he smiled at her before backing away some and moving in a manner that looked like a play bow a dog would give before wrestling or something. Now he just had to see if someone would battle with him. He might be hungry, but battling was awesome when done in good fun.

Alice and Ella exchanged a look when they heard the Phanpy's stomach growl. Ella sat back and let the Bayleef speak. "A battle sounds like a great idea," she said. <My trainer has been looking to give us more experience, and I'm sure she'd give you some food afterward.> Battling could be very tiring, after all.
<Battle?> the Delibird said curiously as she peered at the elephant Pokemon.
<Well, I won't be battling,> Penelope said dramatically. She was strong against ground Pokemon like Phanpy, and she preferred a challenge. Her eyes roamed the group until her eyes fell on the Blitzle, an electric type. <You should do it, Crunch. It would be great experience.>
Crunch was caught completely off guard. He looked around wildly as he fumbled for a response. <Who, me? I don't like battling. I want to play!>
Cody smiled and nudged his friend. <Battling is fun, and it's like playing. You should give it a try!> He wagged his tail and gave him an encouraging nod.
It took Kiki a minute to figure out what was going on, but she eventually understood. From the way the Phanpy was suddenly standing and how her Pokemon were acting around Crunch, she suspected a battle between the two was being organized. This was perfect since she had been meaning to train the electric type for her next battle leader match. "Let's do this, Crunch," she said in a light tone. The Phanpy was cute, and she thought she might catch him. She could use a ground type on her team. "Start with Quick Attack!"
<Well, ok,> Crunch said with uncertainty. He still would have preferred playing, but he supposed he could give battling a try. He stepped forward so he was not in the way of the picnic. <Here goes nothing.> He did enjoy running, so it was easy to get into a Quick Attack. He darted back and forth before aiming to strike the Phanpy.

This was gonna be so much fun! Phanpy was such a little boy he loved battling and getting all dirty. Yet he could be an odd one at that. Getting ready for the battle stood ready, but out of his excitement he forgot to make a move. Luckily though the one they called Crunch had a trainer who knew how to get things started off with a punch. The words of the Seel still echoed in his head and made him a little sad, but he needed to push those words aside there was a battle at hand. Looking up and coming away from his thoughts for a moment he noticed the electric type coming towards him and force for a moment. What to do, what to do. Shifting on his spot he almost looked confused, even though he wasn't. When the other pokemon was almost within range of them touching he quickly curled up into a ball. Just in time too as he felt the impact of the other's body and he was sent flying just like a soccer ball. <Weeeeeee...ouch!> He said having fun going through the air until he landed about two feet back. That landing hurt. Uncurling himself he smiled while running towards his new friend in an attempt to tackle him. <This is awesome!> He yelled as he ran.

The rest of the Pokemon started to eat while they watched the battle. It was lunch and a show! Kiki smiled at them before returning her attention to the action. "Crunch, dodge and use Quick Attack again!" She was impressed with the Phanpy's Defense Curl. It was a useful move to have in the battle. She hoped her Blitzle's speed would pull through for her in the end.
Crunch was surprised when the elephant rolled into a ball. How did he do that? It seemed effective. When he heard his trainer, he took off again. he zoomed out of the way of the Phanpy's Tackle. Then he skirted around and came back to attempt another Quick Attack. Hey, this was kind of fun!

<Oh, you are so fast!> Phanpy exclaimed in excitement as he slid on his feet after missing the other pokemon. Turning around he watched as the black and white speed machine wagged his tail and something about himself felt different. He felt the same as he had before. Boo, his defense had been lowered again. He was the same as he had been before. Now as the Blitzle came at him again he danced on his feet and curled into a ball again. It seemed to be his way of dodging even though it wasn't very effective in order to get out of the way. Oh well. As he was hit again he rolled backwards, but was still okay. <I am soccer ball baby!> He cheered playfully as he got up and ran towards Crunch again trying another tackle attack. Well his spirit sure was hard to break it would seem.

Kiki chuckled lightly at the Phanpy's antics. He seemed to like rolling around. Fortunately, that meant he would be taking some damage. Crunch was distracted by something on the ground, so he was unable to dodge the Tackle attack. "It's ok," his trainer said encouragingly. "Use Quick Attack again."
The Blitzle liked the Phanpy. He seemed like a lot of fun, and he hoped they could be friends after this. <That looks cool,> he said. He noticed something shiny on the ground and glanced down. A second later, he was struck in the side. His thin legs gave out, but he was able to quickly get back up. At his trainer's words he prepared to run again. This was not too bad!

(OOC: Hope you don't mind if I reply) Phanpy raised his tiny trunk and trumpeted loudly as the Blitzle charged forth with a quick attack. The tiny elephant charged forth towards the incoming quick attack and leapt a few feet into the air as he curled into a ball landing on the ground taking the incoming blow using his defence curl to boost his defence in order to lower the damage he would take from his opponents attack. He rolled backwards crying out with glee, <WEEE!> he cried as he rolled about. He pushed off the ground with his hind legs flying through the air as he uncurled. He landed with a thud before he shot forth to slam into the Blitzle known as Crunch with his tackle. The Phanpy was not changing his battling style very much. With this in mind, Kiki could craft a plan that would allow her to win. Defense Curl was troublesome, but at least some damage was taken. Tail Whip would help in that area. Then they would have to try to dodge. If they kept it up, they could win. "Ok, Crunch, Tail Whip and Tackle!" He had been hit again, but he still had plenty of energy left.
Crunch galloped around, happy at his success. He was too distracted to dodge the Phanpy's Tackle. He let out a small "oof" as he fell to the ground. He quickly stood up and shook it off. He could still go! He spun around and whipped his tail in the air. Then he prepared to use Quick Attack once again. His opponent was right; this was fun!

Phanpy grinned as his opponent was struck again. His eyes narrowed as the Blitzle used his tail whip to lower his defence and counter his defence curl. He quickly curled into a ball again as the quick attack landed sending him rolling across the terrain, rolling was so much fun he couldn't wait until he learned rollout then he could roll about all he wanted. He uncurled giving a loud trumpet as he charged forth flailing his trunk and limbs about. What was that Phanpy doing now? He was finally changing things up. Maybe he was pretty smart after all. The attack he was using appeared to be Flail. It was good he could use more than one damaging attack at an early level. Her Blitzle, on the other hand, was going to have to work with what he had. "Dodge and use Quick Attack!" She hoped he would be able to make it.
<Woo!> Crunch said when his attack hit again. He wanted to celebrate, but suddenly the Phanpy was charging at him with a different attack. Luckily, he managed to act quicker this time. He darted out of the way to miss the attack. Then he ran around the Phanpy before turning in on him to use Quick Attack again.
