Kiki had been training hard, and now she was ready to face the second battle leader. She had two strong Pokemon who would be great against the water type Pokemon that Hunter had. She would rely mostly on them while allowing one of her weaker Pokemon a chance to gain some experience. Hopefully, with this strategy, she would be able to win. She walked into the room alone, her Pokemon all safely inside their Pokeballs. "Hey, Hunter!" she called. "I'm here for a battle!" She wondered how often he had challengers, seeing as how everyone had to get through Jenna first, which was not an easy task. She stood on her side of the battlefield and patiently waited for him to arrive. |

After a minute, Hunter stepped into the room, a confident look on his face. "Welcome," he said in a booming voice. "I accept your challenge." He stepped up to his spot on the battlefield. This was going to be fun. He loved showing off his skills to the students. He liked being the second battle leader because his opponents had to have some talent to beat Jenna. "This will be a three-on-three battle. You may substitute Pokemon, and the battle will be over when one side can no longer battle. Ready?" He paused for dramatic effect. "Come on out, Jasper!" A mighty Wartortle appeared before him, ready to battle.

Kiki smiled in greeting when Hunter appeared. He seemed to get right down to business, which was fine with her. She was ready for this battle! She nodded when he explained the rules. It was all just as expected. She admired the Wartortle for a second before bringing out her own Pokemon. "You're first, Cody!" Though the Lillipup was not as strong as his opponent, she wanted to use him since he other two Pokemon she planned on using were such great match ups against water types. "Start off with Baby-Doll Eyes and Tackle!"
Cody wagged his tail upon being released. <Hi!> he said tot he turtle standing before him. He was supposed to look cute now? Ok! He made his eyes look as big and baby-like as possible, and then he ran forward to Tackle his opponent. He just loved battles!

Hunter looked over the Lillipup. He did not seem like much, but he knew better than to underestimate any Pokemon. He did not tell his Wartortle to dodge because he wanted to test their opponent's strength. The Lillipup was cute, but cute could not win battles. The Tackle did not seem to do much damage, which was good for him. "It's your turn, Jasper. Use Water Gun!"
Jasper was not phased by the cuteness of the Lillipup. He was tough, and he would win this with his strength! He moved back slightly as he was tackled, but he did not take much damage. He immediately zeroes in on his opponent and shot out a stream of water in his direction.

Kiki could tell the Wartortle was quite powerful. If she was going to defeat him, she was going to have to rely on strategy instead of pure strength. She did not lie the way the shell protected the turtle Pokemon. Hmm... "Ok, Cody, use Leer and then Bite, but first, zig-zag a bit to catch him off guard." She hoped this would work.
Cody wagged his tail and smiled when his attack hit. He did not expect the Water Gun, and force of the attack sent him flying back. He leapt to his feet and shook off the water. That was not very fun! He leered at the Wartortle in retaliation. Then he ran forward in a zig-zag patter. At the last second, he turned and leapt at the other Pokemon, his jaws wide to bite him.

That Lillipup sure had his speed going for him. Hunter knew he would have to do something about that. If he let his guard down, he was going to lose. He remained calm as he watched the battle progressed. As long as he was slow and steady, he could pull through. "Jasper, shake him lose and then use Bubble!"
Jasper stood his ground as the Lillipup leered at him. He could take this little guy. he watched him zig-zag around and grew dizzy. He tried to get out of the way, but he stumbled and fell into is opponent's jaws. He quickly stood up and shook violently. Then he turned and blew out bubbles to slow down the little dog.

Kiki knew her Lillipup was at a disadvantage, but she was proud of him for trying nonetheless. After that Bubble, there might not be enough time to get a Leer in before the Wartortle dodged. Therefore, she was going to have to go with just a physical attack. "You're doing good, Cody. Now use Take Down!" That should do some good damage.
Cody jumped back after he hit his target. A second later, he was blown back by a string of bubbles. He felt dizzy as he stood back up. That had not been fun! As soon as he heard his trainer speak, he charged forward to use Take Down. This was a new one!

The close proximity of the two Pokemon made it difficult for his Wartortle to dodge before the Lilipup attacked again. They would just have to attack right away too. He waited until Jasper was on his feet again before telling him, "Jasper, use Bite!" He was bigger and stronger, so this move should work pretty well. He had to admit the little dog Pokemon was pretty impressive so far, considering its size and lesser strength.
Jasper stopped his Bubble and prepared to dodge, but the Lilipup was still too fast. He stumbled and fell from the attack. That was a stronger move from the previous ones. As fast as he could, he stood back up. He still had energy and strength to fight. Right when his trainer spoke, he leaned down to clamp down on the Lilipup with his jaws. Kiki was pleased that Take Down seemed to work. They were getting further than she thought they would. The next attack, though, did a lot of damage. She knew her Lillipup would not be able to keep this up for long. "Try to break free and use Bite as well!" It was the only attack they had time for and it was his second strongest. It would have to do.
Cody's head hurt after his Take Down, but he suspected the Wartortle hurt a lot more. Before he could get away, he felt teeth around his skin. He let out a small yelp of surprise. Now that hurt a lot! He struggled to break free of his opponent's grasp. Once he was able to move, he turned and clamped down on one of the turtle's legs. It was payback time!

Hunter thought it was a good move to have the Lilipup use Bite as well, since it was easiest and quickest to do in their circumstance. However, it was still not enough to deter them. "Jasper, shake him loose and use Bubble again!" he told his Wartortle. That Lilipup still needed to be slowed down a bit. His Wartortle was pretty quick, but not as quick as he was as a Squirtle and certainly not as quick as this Lilipup.
Jasper opened his mouth as he gasped in pain and surprise at being bitten. <Get off!> he grunted as he shook his leg. Once he was off, he squirted bubbles at him. <Take that!> That little guy needed to stop being so fast.

Cody was happy that he had managed to grab hold of the Wartortle. He was soon flung off and hit the ground hard. Even he was not fast enough to get to his feet before the Bubble it. This last attack was too much for him. he stayed on the ground, defeated.
"Cody, no!" Kiki called in disappointed. She knew he had not been likely to make it far in this battle, but it was still a sad ending. "You fought well. Take a rest now." After returning him, she pulled out another Pokeball. "It looks like you're up, Crunch." The Blitzle appeared in a flash of light. "Use Sock Wave!" Now this Pokemon would perform quite well.
Crunch looked around excitedly. What was going on? Ooo... a battle. Did that mean he would get to run? <Hi!> he said to the Wartortle. Boy, he looked tough. he was water, though, and electric was good against water. He was not told to run, but he liked his electric attacks as well. He stood his ground wand whipped up a great Shock Wave.

Hunter watched as Kiki returned her Lilipup. It had only been a matter of time. Despite that, he had been impressed with the skill of the trainer and Pokemon. Even when they were at a disadvantage, they had been able to work through that for at least a little bit. He was interested in seeing who else she had in store. A Blitzle. That was a good match against a water type like Jasper. The Shock Wave had a great effect on Jasper. Well, great for his opponent. "It's alright, Jasper. Use Bite!" The Blitzle was all new and fresh for battle while his Wartortle was slowing growing more tired. Still, they were not going to go down without a strong fight.
Jasper smiled in triumph as the little puppy fainted. He knew he was going to win. He looked cautiously at the Blitzle that now stood before him. This was an electric type, which was not a good opponent for him. <Hi,> he said carefully. He inwardly winced as he felt the Shock Wave hit him. That hurt worse than any of that Lilipup's moves. He shook it off, though, and ran forward to bite him. He could still win this too. It seemed like that Shock Wave had done a good amount of damage. Excellent. One or two more hits should do him in, and then she only had two more Pokemon to worry about. With an electric and grass type still left, she knew she could win this. She just had to keep going about this slow and steady. "Dodge it!" she called. The Blitzle was usually quite fast, but unfortunately, he was also easily distracted. She got an idea as the Wartortle clamped down on Crunch. "Don't move. Stay perfectly still and use Shock Wave." He should get a direct hit if the water type did not let go soon enough.
Crunch pranced around excitedly when his attack hit. That was fun! He wanted to do it again. He glanced at the ground and noticed a crack there. Ooo... where had that come from? Maybe it was from the previous round in the current battle. Or perhaps a previous challenger. He was way too distracted to dodge the Bite attack. Just as he looked up, the Wartortle was already on top of him. He cried out as he was injured. He instinctively wanted to struggle, but he listened to his trainer and remained still. Instead, he put all of his energy into a brilliant Shock Wave.

Hunter observed as his Wartortle bit the zebra-like Pokemon. "Let go and dodge!" he said to his Pokemon when he heard his opponent's plan. It was pretty quick thinking to have the Pokemon attack while he was being bitten rather than allow him to shake him loose. Jasper released his jaws from the Blitzle, but he was not quick enough to escape the Shock Wave. After he was struck, he fell slowly backwards and collapsed. The battle leader returned his friend back to his Pokeball. "Good battling, Jasper," he said to him before putting him away. "Nice electric type," he said to Kiki as he reached for his second Pokemon. "I look forward to seeing how he matches up against my Psyduck." he released Horace, his Psyduck.
Horace appeared on the battlefield, his hands on his head. Despite that nap he had earlier, he still had a headache. It was not a terrible one, but it was a headache nonetheless. He took in his surroundings and was happy to see it was the familiar battlefield he had battled in for a long time with his trainer. He looked at the Blitzle. Electric types were familiar to him as well. He was not afraid; he and his trainer knew how to take care of them.

Kiki was pleased that the Shock Wave had done its job. Now they had one Pokemon down. "Good work, Crunch." She was proud of him for working so hard for her. She nodded at Jasper at his comment. "Thanks." A Psyduck, huh? He was pretty cute. She thought the middle of a battle was not the proper time to say that out koud, though. She had to focus on the situation at hand. "Alright, let's use Charge and Quick Attack." She was preparing for another electric attack, but she would not use it just yet.
Crunch was glad to get that Wartortle off of him. He stared at the turtle, waiting him to do something. Then he realized he had fainted. He has won! He wanted to prance around in excitment, but he held it in for his next attack. While he took in the Psyduck, he charged up his electric attacks. Then it was finally time for him to release his physical energy. He raced forward, moving quickly back and forth, aiming to strike the Psyduck.
