Kiki entered the virtual training room once again. She had more work to do with her Pokemon before they would be ready to face the first battle leader. She decided to do a little bit of the training now and finish up later. "Do you want to go first, Alice?" she asked, looking down at the Chikorita by her side.
Alice smiled. <Sure.> She liked these training machines. She could battle as hard as she wanted without having to worry about hurting anther Pokemon. She stood still as her trainer put helmets on both of them. Then they appeared in the familiar white room. She waited for an opponent to appear.

An Ekans appeared out of nowhere before Kiki and Alice. Because of its ability Intimidate, Alice's attack status was lowered. It remained where it was, coiled up, waiting to be attacked. Kiki looked over the Ekans for a minute before doing anything. This one might be a bit difficult. "Alright, Alice, let's start off with Vine Whip." She wanted to see how quickly the Ekans could move. She could decide on a strategy from there.
Alice nodded. This was going to be fun. She quickly shot out her vines, aiming to hit the Ekans. She hoped she would be able to strike early.

The Ekans lunged itself away from the vines and slithered on the ground so it was farther away from them. It partially got hit, but it wasn't very effective. Then, it turned and lunged at her, its teeth glistening with poison.

"Alice, get out of the way!" Kiki exclaimed. She sighed in relief when her Pokemon was able to dodge the attack. It would not be good for her to get poisoned this early in the battle. The Ekans' moved could be really powerful if they made contact. They were going to have to do something about that. "Now use Growl and Tackle." As a normal type move, Tackle would probably do the most damage.
Alice retracted her vines when they mostly missed the Ekans. She would have to try harder next time. She quickly jetted out of the way of her opponent's fangs. Whew. That was close. She growled at the snake to lower its attack power before running towards it for a Tackle. She was determined to hit this time.

The Ekans' attack stats were lowered from the Growl. Because of the Growl, it also became less wary, so it was unable to dodge the attack. It got back up quickly and lunged its head at Alice in order to try and bite her. Kiki winced when her Pokemon was hit. At least it was not Poison Sting, so she could not have gotten poisoned. Speaking about being poisoned... It would not be as effective on a poison type, but having the Ekans lose health on every turn would still be useful. "Alice, use Poison Powder." It was worth a shot.
Alice's confidence grew when her Tackle was successful. Because she was still so close to the snake Pokemon, though, she was unable to dodge his attack. The Bite was painful, but she would be fine. She listened to her trainer and was quick to obey. She scattered poisonous dust towards the Ekans in an attempt to poison it. That would show it!

The Ekans could not escape the Poison Powder. It fell on him and poisoned him. <Ekans!> It lunged at Alice again, this time its teeth coated with poison. Kiki was grateful that the Ekans seemed to be poisoned while Alice was still standing. This was very helpful, and she planned to take advantage of it. "Ok, now use Razor Leaf!" She wanted to see what her Chikorita's remaining attack would do. Then she would decide how to proceed from there.
Alice grinned when her Poison Poweder had its intended effect. It looked like the Ekans wanted to do the same to her, though. The Leer prevented her from dodging, but she did not feel like she had been poisoned. She knew not to test her luck by getting hit again. She stayed where she was and sent sharp leaves jetting out at the Ekans. <Take that!>

<Ekans!> the Ekans cried out as the poison affected it. It tried to jump out of the way of the leaves but was unable to because it was hard to move away quickly when it was on its belly. It slithered over when the leaves were gone and proceeded to wrap around her. If it succeeded, it would squeeze her. Kiki was glad the Razor Leaf worked, but the Wrap attack worried her. She as going to have to think of some way to get out of that. Only one attack came to mind, so she decided to go with it. "Alice, use Vine Whip to make it let go." It would also damage the Ekans, which would help.
Alice saw the Ekans move too late. Just as she started to move, the snake's tail tripped her. Then it was suddenly around her, squeezing her. She naturally wanted to panic, but she listened to her trainer. She could do this. She managed to get her vines free, and she used them to hit the Ekans as hard as she could.

The Ekans cried out in protest when it was struck with Alice's vines. It let go after a moment, and almost immediately it shed its skin, which took away its poisoned state. Soon after that, it lunged at her again with poison coated teeth. Kiki winced when Alice was struck by the Ekans' fangs. She appeared to be poisoned now as well. This was not good. They were going to have to end this now if they wanted to win. "Hang in there, Alice. Use Growl and Tackle." This had to do it. If it failed, they would have one more shot at most before Alice fainted.
The Chikorita cried out when she was hurt by the fangs. She could feel poison entering her system, and it hurt a lot. She got up slowly, her legs shaking. Her trainer's words encouraged her, and she knew she had to fight on. She took in a sharp breath before putting on a confident face. After growling to the best of her ability, she moved in the direction of the Ekans in order to Tackle it.

The Ekans' attack power was lessened, and it became less wary from the Growl. It did not even try to move away from the Tackle, so it fainted right after it got hit. "Congratulations, you have won," said a mechanical voice. "Take your helmets off if you are finished." Alice has gained 2 levels. She now knows Synthesis.

Alice smiled in relief when she had one. Just another term and she would have fainted from being poisoned. She was really looking forward to resting in her Pokeball.
Kiki smiled down at her. "Good job, Alice." It was time to get onto her next Pokemon. She took off the helmets, returned Alice to her Pokeball, released Chomper, and put the helmets back on. "It's time to train." After this, they would have one more to go.
<Train?> Chomper said, smiling. He loved to train! He eagerly waited for his opponent to appear.
