Adelmar Lantos

Concerning his looks... Although it is something that has only ever happened occasionally. Adel has been mistaken to be a little bit younger than he actually is. A lot of it has to do with the fact that he's shorter than others in his age group. But the soft appearance of his face could arguably also play a part in that too. He's not very muscular either, and isn't one to go out all that often. As a result, his skin is noticeably paler that usual, and large amounts of physical activity isn't his strong suit. Thus he can get exhausted pretty easily if he isn't careful. With what he lacks in stamina, is easily made up in speed though. While usually only reserved for when really necessary, Adel is pretty good at sprinting, in addition to hiding. He has some trouble with hearing properly, due to being completely deaf in one ear. The left one.

Adel has thick white hair that reaches down to his neck. At its current length, it can easily get a little messy once in a while, but he doesn't seem to really mind. Between the mop of white hair, and his pale skin, this makes Adel's eyes the most prominent feature of his face. The splash of azure color easily stands out.

For a choice of clothing, he greatly prefers anything that won't expose much skin. Be it pants, long sleeved shirts, hoodies and such. That's the sort of stuff he's most comfortable wearing. Even when summer comes around and the temperature rises, nothing seems to change there. (Although the heat can be a little unbearable sometimes...) Whenever he has things that he needs to carry with him, Adel can often be seen wearing a slightly too large messenger bag. No matter what gets put in there, it always looks a bit awkward for him to wear. The strap is where he typically keeps the Poké Balls of his Pokémon team.

Around his neck he wears a necklace with a silver pendant attached. The pendant has markings of some sort etched into it, and is a bit thick. It is typically kept tucked beneath his shirt out of sight, and seems to hold some significance to him.

Adel has a gentle disposition that extends to almost every move made being equally as gentle. There's much kindness in his heart. So he'll always want to do whatever he can to make anyone he cares about happy. Which means one could certainly expect him to be a good friend once they get to know him.

But that heart can also be fragile, and even uncertain. Usually he will keep to himself because of this, and will often appear shy. As he doesn't like attracting too much attention to himself. Encountering unfamiliar experiences and meeting new people isn't one of his strongest points. But given time to adjust, Adel actually enjoys having company.

He does much better in quieter environments though, and doesn't mind being by himself once in a while. A lot of the time that is spent alone is generally used to learn about things, or partake in some of his hobbies. Whenever he isn’t busy with anything else at the time. He can be pretty curious, if something catches his attention.

Adel is afraid of Pokémon and doesn't always do nearly as well with them, as he would when interacting with a person. The fear can vary in degree with which kinds he comes in contact with, but they all will generally make him uncomfortable. At some point, he did learn to quietly endure it to avoid causing a fuss. He never liked making others worry. Especially those that he cares about.

He was born in the Kanto region on a pleasant April morning. Where he grew up living in Celadon City for a few good years. With his father named Johnathan Lantos.

As for his mother? Well... Adel doesn't actually know a single thing about her. While he was extremely curious about her, and did make attempts to learn anything he could when he was younger. Something about the whole thing was impossible for his father to discuss. So he never really talked about her. At some point the questions just stopped altogether.

Despite growing up without his mother, he still had his father. And Johnathan did everything he could to be an excellent parent for Adel. Even going as far as giving up his previous lifestyle as a serious Pokémon Trainer. But there was one thing that was certain while he grew up. Even if his father was no longer involved with being a Trainer, they both shared a love for Pokémon. That John's trusted Pokémon companion got along really well with Adel. The bond they shared led to the young boy having a dream of following in his father's footsteps. To become a Trainer just like he was.

But not everything had gone according to plan.

For at nine years old, Adel's life had changed.

Something had happened. Something that would ingrain this fear he has of Pokémon. Leaving his future no longer certain, and very unstable in a world that was filled with them. His father had chosen to soon leave Celadon behind for good, and brought Adel to Castelia City. From then on, his lifestyle soon consisted of remaining indoors as much as possible, and staying away from all Pokémon he came across. Many adjustments were made to help accommodate this, in the interest of giving Adel the proper chance to heal in his own time.

But even after five whole years. Things didn't seem like they had changed. Time could heal old wounds, but not all scars would ever truly fade away.

His father did make attempts to reintroduce Pokémon into his life through two of those five years. Each one being as careful and gentle as his father could possibly manage. But it soon seemed hopeless. There just wasn't enough progress being made. Soon the dream his father wanted to help make into a reality was abandoned. He could no longer bear putting him through that hardship again.

That was until Johnathan found out about a certain school. One designed for Pokémon Trainers. Something about it made him think that this would be an opportunity for Adel. But it could have had a lot more to do with him still stubbornly clinging onto a sliver of hope. That things could still change.

The answer to come, was a surprise that he never expected to hear.

"Only if you're sure." His father said, wanting to be absolutely sure that it would be okay. Which Adel nodded his head in reply, appearing certain. Despite any initial reluctance he may have had, Adel's heart had been spurred towards the decision of agreeing to this by something.

That something was the happiness that lit up in his father's face the moment he said yes. He never once forgot about his childhood dream, and knew how much that dream meant to his father.

Would he learn to love Pokémon once again someday? That remains uncertain. But Adel was determined to not disappoint his father again. As Adel now finds himself here at Cherilli Academy.
