Kiki was surprised to see another trainer appear. He had been watching as well? There was something odd about him, but she could not put her finger on it. She decided to stay and watch the battle. Paul had not ordered her to leave, and she wanted to give Alice and Thorn some rare time together. She hoped Paul would continue to ignore all of them and focus on his battle with this new guy.
Alice nodded. <Right.> It was a good thing that Paul had been distracted by a battle request. She knew that he otherwise would have likely recalled Thorn. She did not know when they would get this chance again; they had to take it! <Come on.> She turned around slowly. Then, being carefully to move quietly, she started forward into a batch of tall grass. Luckily, her green skin would mostly camouflage her. OOC: I know, she's always making excused for him.

Duke was pleased that the trainer agreed to battle. This was his first attempt at recruiting for the GOA from Cherilli Academy, and he hoped it would be successful. "Pancham, let's go." A panda Pokemon appeared before him and immediately took a battle stance. Duke was trying to train him so that he would be a high enough level to evolve, where he would gain dark as a secondary type. It was better to kill two birds with one stone, eh? He waited to see which Pokemon Paul would call out.

Paul took in the Pokemon the trainer called out. It was a fighting type and looked pretty strong. It also looked ready for battle, which was good. After a quick thought, he knew which Pokemon he wanted to use. "Private, stand by for battle!" he said as he let out his Farfetch'd. This would be good experience for him and hopefully it would make him stronger. Seeing how the trainer had not said anything about who would go first, he figured it did not matter. "Use Peck!"
Private quickly took in his surroundings when he was released from his Pokeball. They were battling? Alright. He instantly focused and took his battle stance. Bring it on. At his trainer's command, he flew into the air and then aimed his sharp beak at the Pancham as he flew back down head first.
Thorn nodded and followed Alice into the tall grass. The grass felt nice against his skin. He couldn't believe they were actually doing it! Paul and Kiki had no clue. He wondered how they would react when they finally realized they were gone. It was going to be very interesting to see if this plan actually worked. He sure hoped it did. If nothing else, the plan would have provided some extended time with Alice without Paul getting upset and making him leave her.

Duke examined the Farfetch'd for a few seconds. It was going to be difficult to attack while he was in the air. They were going to have to do something about that. He was confident enough in his Pokemon's skills to not worry about it too much. "Pancham, dodge it and use Arm Thrust." It was time to see how quickly the flying type could change course.
Pancham was always ready for battle. He nodded at his master's words. They had practiced battling fighting types in the past, and he knew just what to do. When Private was close to him. He jumped out of the way so that his beak just missed him, then he turned and thrust his arm several times at the bird.

While they were walking, Alice tried to think of a place where they could go. She smiled when an idea came to her. She did not speak, though, until she was sure they were far enough away. The sounds of battle were distant, and it just sounded like white noise. <I know a place we can hide,> she said in a low voice. <I've been in this forest plenty of times. There's a good area where they won't find us for awhile.> When they got out of the grass, she could begin to lead the way.

Paul could tell this battle would not be easy. "Turn around and use Sand Attack," he instructed. He had learned from his battle with Nate how dangerous it was to allow his Farfetch'd to remain close to his opponent and how important it was to get out of close range as quickly as he could. He had spent some time working on a way to do that. They would see how well it worked. He got hit a little, but it was not nearly as bad as it could have been. They would still have to work on it some more. "Now, Peck!"
Private tried to turn around quickly when he was told. It was hard, for he had been traveling quite quickly in the opposite direction. After being hit once, though, he was able to get around and flap his wings towards the ground and the Pancham, causing sand to blow in the panda Pokemon's face. When enough sand had been blown and he heard Paul give another command, he flew back down, he was closer than before, and he aimed his beak one more time at the Pancham. Thorn followed Alice silently, knowing she was probably thinking of someplace where they could hide. It was crucial for them to find somewhere where it would be very hard for their trainers to find. Therefore, they would have ample time to be together. He brightened when Alice said she knew of someplace. <Great!> Whoops. That may have been too loud. <I mean, great,> he said in a lower voice. He happily followed her when she took the lead.

Duke was impressed with Paul's quick thinking. The young trainer had been able to evade most of Pancham's attack, and the Farfetch'd's own moved has put him in a good position away from the panda Pokemon. However, Duke still planned to win this. With the Sand Attack, it would be hard to get a direct hit, so he decided on a stats change. "Pancham, use Work Up." That would do it for now.
Pancham tried to leap back after he attacked the Farfetch'd, but the Sand Attack made it hard. He shiled his eyes with his arms to protect himself. He could not see well enough to get out of the way of the Peck. Luckily, it did not do much damage. He shook his head to get rid of the rest of the sand. he took a deep breath and used Work Up. He was roused, and his attack and speed stats were increased. He was ready for what would come next.

Work Up was not going to be good, for it increased attack power and the Pancham was already stronger than Private, even with his type advantage. It would be foolish to allow him to get too close to the other Pokemon. "Use Leer," Paul said. It would be needed if they wanted any real damage to be dealt. "Sand Attack again." Hopefully it would help make him miss the Farfetch'd if he tried to attack.
Private was glad when he was able to make contact with the Pancham. It hadn't harmed it too much, though, which was not a good thing. He narrowed his eyes and sent a piercing leer at the Pokemon. That should help. Then, he flapped his wings again to spray sand at him. Let him try to attack. Duke watched Paul carefully. He had not ordered a damaging move, but it would be hard for his own Pokemon to attack. In a situation like this, it was best to be bold. Besides, Pancham's attacks would do a lot of damage once they actually hit. "Hurry up and use Karate Chop!" He could miss because of the Sand Attack, but it was worth the risk.
Pancham flinched at the Leer, but he soon shrugged it off. Before he could do anything, sand was flung in his face again. He wished that bird would stop doing that. He was glad when his trainer issues a damaging move. He would give it everything he got! He ran forward in the general direction of the Farfetch'd. Then he leapt up into the air and brought his arm down hard, hoping for a hit.

Paul knew Private couldn't avoid the Pancham's attacks forever, but it was good he had been able to so far. He would face it when it came. "Dodge, and then use Poison Jab!" If this hit, then there was a chance of the Pancham being poisoned, which would be helpful. If he didn't get poisoned, then he would just continue on and think of something else.
Private flew up and to the side when the Pancham aimed at him for his attack. He was satisfied that he was able to dodge it. He could win this. Now, it was time for another attack! With his beak coated in poison, he flew beak first towards the other Pokemon. Duke knew now was the time to attack. They would have to meet their opponent head on. He knew that could damage Pancham and possibly poison, but that was what it took to gain victory. "Use Tackle, quickly!" he cried. This was their chance to strike back.
Pancham focused as the Farfetch'd flew down close to him. When he was only a foot away, he leapt up to Tackle him. The Poison Jab struck him hard, but he would not mind as long as his Tackle worked. This time, he was fortunate enough to evade being poisoned. He wondered if his trainer would have him risk it again.

Paul gritted his teeth when the trainer had his Pancham attack right into Private's attack. His Farfetch'd seemed to take considerable damage from it. He stayed calm, though. "Use Leer and then Peck!" The Pancham was strong, and he had to admire that. It made him want to make his Farfetch'd stronger even more.
Private kept going at full speed when the Pancham ran at him for a tackle. The result was him being thrown backwards from the force of the two attacks. He got back to his feet as quickly as he could, though it was limited as he had taken on a lot of damage from that attack. He frowned when he saw he had not been successful in poisoning the panda Pokemon. He would just have to try harder next time. When his trainer instructed him to, he sent a piercing leer at the Pancham. Now, it was time to attack again. He flew up and then aimed his beak at him on his way down once more. Duke was impressed with Paul's perseverance and quick thinking. Perhaps this guy would make a good recruit. At the very least, he would have enjoyed a good battle. He would have to reserve judgment until everything ended. "Pancham, use Arm Thrust." They would have to be quick to get it in, but hitting the flying type at least once was progress.
The Leer made the Pancham less wary, and he was able to get out of the way of the Peck attack. He really did not like Private's beak. At his trainer's command, he quickly recovered. He jumped up and thrust his arm at the Farfetch'd repeatedly. He tried to get in as many shots as he could. Attacking a flying type was tough, but at least he had the level advantage. He had just had to hang in and keep trying.

Kiki watched the battle with interest. Paul seemed to be a t a disadvantage, but he was still fighting hard. She admired the Farfetch'd's spirit. She honestly could not guess who would win this one. She did not know who she wanted to win, actually. Paul bothered her, but their was still something off about his opponent...
Alice remained silent as she walked among the trees. Finally, the land began to slope down, and they had to walk through thick brush. They arrived at a clearing with many plants around and a small cave up ahead. <Here we are,> she said with a smile. She hoped this would work. They could always hide in the cave if they needed to.

"Sand Attack!" Paul said immediately after the trainer called out his next move. The sand had been useful the last time; hopefully it would again. Private was still slightly in the air after he had landed his attack, so it was easier to avoid some of the Arm Thrust, but he still got hit. When he flew higher and into safety, he told him, "Use Peck." This was a particularly challenging battle, but he believed it would be good for him and the Farfetch'd.
Private flew back around when he heard the command and sprayed sand at the Pancham again. He was closer to him than before when he had used Sand Attack to avoid his Arm Thrust, so he still got hit a bit. He kept flapping the sand in his face, though, until he was able to fly up and away from him. In the air, he gazed down at his opponent. He refrained from speaking at all because he did not like getting distracted by hurling insults or triumphant phrases. This was a serious time; he needed to focus for his trainer. With that in mind, he flew down again to hit the Pancham with his beak. Private Species: Farfetch'd Type: Normal/Flying Gender: male Level: 9 Attacks: Poison Jab, Peck, Sand Attack, Leer, Fury Cutter, Fury Attack, Knock Off Abilities: Keen Eye, Inner Focus, Defiant Hit By: Arm Thrust Used: Sand Attack, Peck Health: Red OOC: There is nothing "off" about him at all...
