"Nicknamed Rat?" mouthed the smoker, his brow arching curiously in response to the kid's proclamation. Why on earth would you want to be nicknamed Rat? he wondered. In reality, the boy in red, black and white hadn't said Rat, but due to the noisy breeze that had picked up during his announcement, Rae had misheard him. Nevertheless, Rae wasn't one to judge people on what nicknames they wanted, though he was a bit curious. From what he could see of the boy, he didn't appear to have any rat-like features? Maybe he just really enjoyed eating cheese or something? Rae didn't know, but he decided that he might ask the boy about it later on, once their battle had concluded. Rae's eyes moved from the kid, to his flaming pokemon, just as the creature was launching its attack. The smoker's eyes widened as the fire ball tore through the air, before bursting into separate columns of flame and descending toward the little blue dude. "Oooooo," Rae cooed in response to the prettiness of the flames. Bathed in the majestic glow of the firelight, the little blue dude was also in awe over the brilliance of the flame attack. As both he and his pierced trainer stood motionless, watching it, it suddenly descended upon him and made impact. The froakie winced as the flames singed his skin and let out a loud growl of discomfort. The attack wasn't very painful, but it was awfully irritating! The froakie's eyes narrowed on the opponent and he answered back with an attack of his own, firing a surge of bubbles forth at the enemy. Not only would they do some impressive damage if they landed, but there was a chance they would lower the speed of the enemy as well. Rae looked on in wonder, noting how quickly his little blue dude seemed to recover from that fire attack. He was still very ignorant to the ways of Pokemon, but having been a long-time smoker, he knew how threatening water was to fire; like the downpour of rain to his lit cherry. Intently watching his pokemon launch its own attack, Rae hadn't even noticed the fact that the toe of his shoe had caught fire until he felt the heat on his foot. Looking down suddenly, he gasped in disbelief and proceeded to hop around on one leg while holding his flaming foot and trying to blow out the fire. Up on stage with Mr. Turner she was rather scared he was going to yell at her in front of everyone and where everyone would hear him. Yet as he moved away from the podium she felt a little better, but her face was still bright red. "Yes, sir. Sorry again sir. I won't let it happen again." She said quickly to him as she took her pokemon and looked down. She didn't look him in the eyes, and as she held onto Peanut, she shook. Saying sorry one last time she moved away from him and went back to her seat. Sitting down she pulled the jar off of Peanuts head and looked at the pokemon who cheered and then tried to wiggle out of her hands. "Peanut enough." She said in an angry, yet upset voice to the pokemon as she just took out his pokeball and returned him to it. Clutching the pokeball in her hand she simply sat there shamed, embarrassed and shaking. By this time her whole face was bright cherry red. After all she had heard everyone laugh.

Zoey knew it was probably rude, but she couldn't help but look over and see what happened when the girl walked up to the Vice Principal to retrieve her Pokemon. People were laughing, which made her feel even worse for the girl. It did not look like Mr. Turner was yelling at her, which was good. She watched the girl went back to her seat and sat down, appearing very embarrassed. If she saw a Pokemon like that, Zoey would immediately approach it and try to comfort it. However, if a person was like that, well... She couldn't deny she wanted to do something, but she wasn't really sure what to say. Nor was she very comfortable with the idea.
Her mind was made up for her, apparently, for Waffles jumped off her shoulder and bounced his way over to Angelica. <Hi!> he said once he got to where she sat. He climbed up on her lap and smiled brightly at her. She looked like she needed a friend. <Are you okay?>
Zoey's eyes widened when she saw her fire monkey run off. "Hey!" She immediately got up and walked quickly after him. Please don't copy what that Plusle did! she thought. She was relieved when he finally stopped. It was the girl with the Plusle. Chuckling to herself silently, she sat down next to her. "Sorry about Waffles. He likes meeting new people. Do you mind if we sit here?" She smiled softly at the girl, waiting for her to say something.

Sitting down in her seat she was finally able to take a moment to come down, but then she wasn't. For as she sat there she was shocked when a fire money crawled up in her lap. Her eyes went wide as she almost looked like she was gonna pass out. "H...hi. Um...I..I..y..yes." She mumbled to the pokemon as everything started to go dark around her. Okay, so this so wasn't Angelica's day. First her pokemon runs off, then he finds a jar of peanut butter and gets stuck in it, then he runs across the stage and she gets called up by Mr. Turner and everyone laughs, and now there is a fire pokemon on her lap. A strange fire pokemon at that.
At this school there was a small hand full of people who knew she had an extreme fear of fire pokemon, and even less of them knew it was because she was attacked and burned by one as a young child. Which wasn't Waffle's fault but as Zoey came closer and spoke Angelica barely heard her. "Go..oo go a..head." She said softly as she stuttered to get her words out. Rolling her head she looked towards the trainer and mumbled. "Ther..the..there..fire..lap..." It didn't really make sense but then neither did a person having such an extreme fear that the stress makes them pass out. However, that is just what happened to the blue haired girl. The stress of what her pokemon had done, and then the stress of having a strange fire pokemon sitting on her made her pass out and slump over. If anyone was to touch her they would find that she was not only really sweaty and gross but that her skin was really hot to the touch. Oh Angelica, panic attack much?

He was gonna be late. Hair still tousled (he would say handsomely unkept and rugged looking), the heavy lifted ran in his work boots from where he had been working out. He still stunk to high heaven of sweat and his wife beater was covered in stains. His work out shorts threatened to fall down between the weight of his single pokeball and his room key. It wasn’t much, but the pants unfortunately had been ripped of their drawstring quite a while ago.
”****, ***, ***********,” the boy muttered under his breath, trying his torn between his desire to make it to the meeting on time and go back to his room for a multitude of reasons. He didn’t even have a jacket for crying out loud.
That being said, it was only natural that his day would be further complicated by running into Rae and Shun’s fight. Where as Ramses was supporting Rae, Shun was about to gain a fan of his own.
Skidding to a stop to avoid the cross-fire, the country boy back pedaled and ended up stumbling to Shun’s half of the “battle field”. He panted, frantically looking between the two non-battling pokemon, the other contenders, and finally up at Shun. And, oh, how he looked at Shun. Serkan’s green eyes froze on the other boy from where he lay on the ground, mouth agape a bit.
”****.” Standing up and dusting himself off, he looked at what was going on. Call it bias, but whatever it was, he was definitely helping the red-and-black haired boy out. ”What in Groudon’s salty rump is goin’ on here?!”
ooc: first officially unnecessarily obvious romantic attraction of the school year people. also if you don’t think people actually wear boots with workout shorts i’ve got some very sad news for you and i’ve already done my crying about it.

The breeze of the surrounding air flew past the dark cloaked figure's body, their footsteps quickly connected with the ground beneath them. The pitter patter sound of the black shoes connecting with the ground left a semi lasting print on the school's sidewalk, due to the soles of the their shoes being wet. The individual was obviously running from something, but what, and why were their shoes wet? The figure wore an all black cloak that covered the individual's entire body. A black hood was attached as well that provided concealment to the individual's true identity. As the individual quickly headed towards the school the sound of electric attacks thundered behind them. Quick flashes could be seen illuminating the sky above the pond behind them as well with each attack. Showing no emotion on the exposed lower part of the individual's face, they continued to run at an impressive rate of speed to the school doors.
With a careful hand, the individual slowly opened up the large door to the school. With a tactful look, the cloaked individual saw that the hallway they were now in was completely dead, with no one in sight.
"Perfect, right on time." The individual thought to themselves as a smirk formed with their lips.
Slipping into the school quickly, the individual looked to their right as they saw a trash bin right next to them. Taking one last look around, the cloaked individual took note that no one was in the hallway and all the classroom doors down the hall seemed to be shut.
Reaching up with one hand, the individual pulled down the black hood that rested around their head. Not wasting anytime and moving quickly, the individual then proceeded to take off the rest of the long dark cloak that covered their entire body. Wadding it all up into a ball, the mysterious person then opened up the garbage can with one hand as they threw away the black cloak. Brushing their hands off, the mysterious person then proceeded to act normally down the deserted hall way, as their shoes made an annoying squeak sound due to still being wet on their bottoms.
Turning the corner, the individual then proceeded to walk down another abandoned hallway as they read a sign above a doorway that said: "Principal's Office". Stopping in front of the office, the individual paused for a second as their hand rested on the door knob. Once they heard no one inside, they began to turn the door handle gingerly, making sure to be as quiet as possible. With the door halfway open, the mysterious individual then carefully entered the dark room. It looked as if everyone was at the school assembly that was about to start shortly. Not to mention that little diversion at the pond the mysterious individual just made, they knew they had to still act fast in this room.
Choosing not to turn on the light to the office, the individual quickly reached into their pants pocket and pulled out their cell phone. Using the light from the cell phone, the individual proceeded to look around the room quickly. As the light hit the drawer that was labeled "Student Files", they ceased their search as they proceeded to advance towards the drawer.
Opening it up halfway, the individual noticed it was all labeled and organized neatly by region the student's came from that were enrolled here. Pulling record after record, one by one the mysterious person began to read the files of certain students, as if they were looking for ones in particular. But why only certain ones? After several minutes of looking through student files and making mental notes, the individual then closed the drawer and headed for the door.
Carefully opening the door, they returned to the abandoned hallway, where they then shut the door to the principal's office. Looking around, the individual still did not see anyone around. With a quick turn the individual then headed down the hallway of which they came from...

(Present Time)
The grass on the school grounds seemed to be lush and fresh as the gentle air blew through the blades gently, making them wave in the wind. Walking down the sidewalk outside the school, Jack had his hands in his jacket pockets as he was nearing the gymnasium. Off in the distance he heard what sounded like Pokemon doing battle. As he rounded the corner he saw two individual's who looked as if they just started their battle. Ignoring the battle events, Jack continued his pace as he got closer towards the gym where the assembly was taking place.
Walking up the concrete steps that lead to the door, Jack paused for a second as he grabbed a hold of the door handle. From there, his blue eyes moved from the ground to the sky just above the school's pond. Staring at the sky above, it was clear there was some sort of electric pokemon doing battle there.
"..." Jack gazed upon the scene intently as he then opened up the door to enter the school.
Walking down the hallway, he could see the entrance to the gymnasium on his right, it looked as if it did not start yet, so he did not miss anything. Making his way to the door he stopped short as he looked down at the floor. A scowl formed on his face as if he did not like what he saw. Looking left and right, he noticed that all the teachers and few students around him were to busy having conversations with one another to really notice him.
Shaking his head in annoyance, Jack then proceeded to open up the door to the gymnasium...
As he entered the gymnasium he noticed there were old wooden bleachers on each side. It was clear that if he would have arrived earlier, a seat would be available for him. But from the looks of it, it seemed as if all the spots in the bleachers were taken or about to be taken.
"Tch." Jack noised as he then turned and headed towards his left.
Straight ahead of him was an unlocked part of the bleachers that seemed to come out of the wall like the other ones that were being used. Approaching the bleachers, the young man then bent down as he reached his hand underneath the bottom of the rails. As he began to tinker around with the lock is was unknown what exactly he was doing. Then with a sudden *click* Jack smirked.
Stepping back a safe distance, Jack watched as the wooden bleacher began to unravel themselves providing more room for students to sit in. Walking up the wooden bleachers, Jack took a seat in the middle of the bleachers. He was all by himself now, and quite frankly, that did not bother him one bit.
As he sat there, he paid no attention to the other students as he reached into his pocket and pulled out his cell phone, as it had just notified him he got a new text message.
Opening up the text message it read...
UNKNOWN: "Was it a success?"
Jack then looked up as he began to gaze upon the other students in the gymnasium. He noticed the young girl with the peanut butter pokemon, as well as the two good looking girls that sat next to each other. He also took notice to the ugly kid who was bullying the other kid with glasses, as if he was trying to impress the female that was near them. He even noticed the purple girl with glasses and a guy who liked traditional Japanese customs. Jack noticed a few others as well that seemed to stand out.
Looking down at his red cellphone, he then began to engage the buttons on his device as they formed the following words before he sent them....
JACK: "Yes. There were two outside battling when I walked in. But everyone is here, as well as their files. The diversion at the pond seemed to work out perfectly. Just like you said it would."

They were battling? That was weird. If Turner knew this was happening, he would never allow it. Even Sash would scold then. Perhaps when her trainer finally returned, she would tell them to get their behinds to the gym. Speaking of her trainer... <Sorry that Sash is late. She's rescuing some Poliwag. I'm supposed to tell Turner that she'll be here soon.> She glanced at the battling trainers again with a small frown. It did not seem like there was anything they could do about them. She looked back at Spike. <Let's go tell him.> She really did not want to get into the middle of this fight, whatever it was about.

Zoey frowned. The girl did not appear to be alright at all. Was she still shaken from being put on the spot? She gave her a sympathetic look, wondering what she could do to help. Fire? Lap? She looked at Waffles, who looked very confused, and then back at Angelica. Was she freaking out about Waffles? Her eyes widened when the girl slumped over, having fainted. She would take that as a yes... Now, she really didn't know what to do. She looked in concern at the girl, trying to think as fast as she could; fainting in public would probably embarrass her even more if she stayed like this for long. "Maybe you should go in your Pokeball for a bit, Waffles," she said, addressing her Chimchar, who had jumped down from the girl's lap when she fainted. He looked saddened that he had scared Angelica, but he understood that it was best he should leave.
Once he was returned, she thought about her other Pokemon. At first she thought Flower would work, but she didn't know any water moves yet. Then Lila, but she didn't know any electric moves and shocking the girl seemed a bit harsh and uncalled for. She decided on the comfort approach. Reaching back to her Pokeballs, she took out Meowthers'. "Hello, Meowthers," she said when he appeared. "This girl here just suffered from public embarrassment, and I think Waffles scared her, which added to the factors leading to her passing out. Will you help me help her?" Meowthers was soft, cute, and cuddly. Who wouldn't love him or feel better holding him? She gently wrapped her arm around Angelica and used her free hand to gently pat her on the shoulder. "Hello? Are you okay? Please wake up," she said low enough to not attract the attention of those around them but loud enough for her to, hopefully, hear her. She looked at her desperately.

Meowthers yawned once he was released from his Pokeball. That had been a good nap. He blinked when his trainer spoke to him. A girl had passed out from embarrassment? Oh dear! He would try to help if he could. He crawled into Angelica's nap and began to purr. <Wake up,> he said as he rubbed against her. <It's alright.> He hoped this would work. He did not like to see others hurt.

Spike listened to Maya explain. Poliwag in trouble? That was terrible, but he was glad Sash was helping them. She was always doing stuff like that. She was a good trainer. He frowned slightly when she said they should leave and tell Turner. He really wanted to watch this battle! It looked like a lot of fun. However, he knew his trainer needed to know; he was getting very upset and antsy. He didn't want to keep his trainer in distress, so he nodded to the fire fox. <Alright. Let's go.> He began to slowly creep away in the direction of the exit.

The chain-smoker sighed as his blue Pokemon's attacks landed against the enemy unblocked. This was no contest, this was just a waste of time. What was more, now some little girl with her hair cut too short had come skidding into the fold. This was getting ridiculous. Rae rolled his eyes and returned the little blue dude to his pokeball.
Rae's eyes caught sight of the pokemon he had initially been pursuing, now heading off as well. Great, just great, he thought, realizing that he had gotten all scratched up by that rose bush for nothing. He looked down at his attire, noting all the holes and thought about the cigarette he had broken earlier. With everything added up, detective Rae considered this mission a total failure; he didn't have the money to be wasting smokes like this!
Giving one last look to the children on the opposite end of the battlefield, Rae turned and looked at the Randy boy behind him. He appreciated the fact that his deputy had decided to join him after all and give him a bit of support, even if it had proved fruitless. "Thanks anyway kid, I'll see you around..." Rae said quietly, before stepping past the youth and disappearing around the corner of the building.
Rae thought about the assembly. Maybe he should head in and see what the deal was? Remembering the roar of the crowd he had heard earlier, he thought twice about it. Did he really want to subject himself willingly to that kind of torture? A bunch of snot-nosed, prepubescents all yammering on about how they couldn't wait to get their first kiss? Rae spat at the ground mid-stride, the idea tasting rather awful upon his pallet.
Finally, he decided. And, though he would undoubtedly hate himself for it later, he headed for the Gym. Perhaps he could do his best to simply tune the masses out and at least hear what the faculty had to say. After all, Principal Sash had been nice enough and Vice Principal Turner didn't seem like such a bad guy either, though admittedly, Rae had only had the pleasure for a brief moment...
Rae sighed as his hand reached out for the door. "Here goes nothin'," he groaned, before opening it up and stepping inside.
ooc: Due to Shun's inactivity, Rae has left and gone to the Gym.

Coming too again Angelica at first heard purring, then she saw the cat pokemon. Her face was still red, and her skin quiet hot to the touch, but she was a bit confused. Had she just dreamed that there was a fire pokemon on her lap. "H...hello?" She said softly and quietly to the Meowth before looking at the other girl. That was when she realized no she hadn't. Then she realized she had passed out in the gym with everyone from school around. This was an awesome, awesome day. What next? Was she gonna be attacked by a swarm of Magikarp? "I...am sorry." She said in a hushed voice as she looked at Zoey. "I am Angelica." She then added thinking she should at least say something useful and not stupid to the girl and the pokemon.

Maya trotted beside Spike as they headed for the exit. She really hoped her trainer would show up soon. She knew what Turner thought about tardiness. Soon, they arrived at the gym. Maya could see Principal Turner up on the stage. No, he did not look too pleased. The fire fox glanced at Spike worriedly. <Let's go.> Hopefully the vice principal would see her and know that all would soon be well.

The smoker had contemplated the notion of finding a place to sit and settling in for the long haul. However, as he stood with his back to the closed door he had just entered through and looked at the Gymnasium around him, he wanted little to do with it.
He had of course seen the two familiar-faced girls, Dawn and Jen. His eyes had roamed the bleachers and noted all the little cliques that had apparently formed, as well as the outcasts who chose to distance themselves from the rest like they were too cool. Rae yawned and strafed slightly to the right, before planting his back up against the wall beside the door.
He noticed one individual whom he had seen before, with distinctive white hair. The boy was sitting alone, in his own section of the bleachers that none had perhaps dared to occupy. Rae recalled the time he had met the boy down at the Shupert City Police Station. Inhaling deeply, the pierced trainer slowly turned his focus toward the vice principal.
Rae had met the man once, unofficially and very briefly in the office. It had been enough to allow for recognition now, when his eyes landed upon him. He wondered why nothing had even begun yet. Surely the man could've stepped up to the microphone and started talking about something... anything. Instead, it looked like a mad house. The students and several odd-looking creatures had been allowed free reign over the gym and Rae saw no true authority in sight. Perhaps once Principal Sash arrived, there would be order, but Turner appeared incapable of demanding any respect.
Torn between wanting to head right back out the door and venture back to his dorm room, and enduring whatever this nonsense was; Rae shifted his weight from one foot to the other. If Sash made her appearance very soon, then he wouldn't mind hearing what she had to say. However, if things continued on as they were for much longer, the skater would lose his patience and leave.
He had been under some false impression up until now, that Cherilli Academy was some great place of learning and potential. But with what he had witnessed first-hand, thus far, he saw none of that. It was disorganized and lacked any real structure. The faculty seemed to have bitten off more than they knew how to chew and looked like novice circus clowns trying to juggle too many students at once, without even having learned how to ride the unicycle properly yet.
Rae rolled his eyes and exhaled sharply through his nose. What a joke...

<Hi,> Meowthers said, smiling when the girl woke up. The girl seemed pretty embarrassed and sad, which made him want to make her feel better. That was why Zoey had let him out, right? Maybe the two girls could become friends. <It's ok. I'm Meowthers." He rubbed against her again to show her that he liked her. He hoped it would work.
