Everything was set up. Principal Sash looked with pride upon her work in the Haunted House. Cherilli Academy was hosting a Halloween Ball right here in the house. The principal had hung Halloween decorations everywhere. She had also installed a stage, DJ station, and dance floor. Mostly fast songs would be played (often with a Halloween theme), but a couple of slow songs would be played as well.
Students were allowed to bring one Pokemon if they dressed in a costume of that Pokemon. At the end of the night, the trainer with the most realistic costume would win a prize. Sash herself was dressed like a Vulpix with ears and a tail alone with a red dress. Maya thought she looked pretty good. They both waited eagerly near the stage for the first students to arrive.

Nate was not one to love social events, but the Haloween ball seemed too fun to pass up. He was excited to express his creativity through the costume constest. He dressed as his Eevee, of course. He had made a brown suit that matched the markings of Eevee, a soft furry hat with ears sticking out, a long Eevee tail, and a mask like Eevee's face. Watcher seemed to think he looked pretty good. He trotted beside his trainer as they walked to the haunted house.
He opened the door for his friend, and the two of them walked inside. Nate took a minute to look around at all of the decorations. It all seemed rpetty cool. The haunted house was definately a good place to have this. He wondered if there were any ghost Pokemon around. "It looks like we're the first ones here." He was sure others would show up soon. He did not want to be standing awkwardly doing nothing, so he headed for the food and drink table to check it out.

Sawyer was excited for the Halloween Ball. She had been training hard recently, and this was the perfect chance to reward herself and Kopa for all their hard work. She had neglected meeting other students aside from battling and classes. She did enjoy having friends, so she hoped she would be able to make some connections today. Making a costume was difficult, but somehow she managed to make herself look like a Litleo. She was dressed in all red with a special hat to look like a Litleo's ears mane. And, of course, she had a tail. She and Kopa strode confidently into the Haunted House and looked around. What a great location for a Halloween party!

Faith simply adored parties. They were a great chance to meet new people and talk a lot. Plus, dancing was really fun. She was excited about the costume contest, though she was not sure what to do at first. She settled with a brown one-piece suit, a tail, and fake teeth to make herself look like a Bidoof. She and Willy bounded into the haunted house. They were both in awe at what they saw. This place looked great! The girl grinned when she saw someone she recognized. "Hey, Sawyer. Nice costume." She would chat a bit with her before moving onto people she did not know. She could not confine the fun to one person!

Gary, a lover of all scary things, thought having a Halloween Ball in the haunted house was a magnificant idea. He hoped there would be some ghost Pokemon arround to have some fun with them. He was ready for adventures! The thought of adventures reminded him of the time he had successful watched a tornado and survived. He had caught his Goomy then, so he thought he'd bring his little friend along to the dance. He was not the creative type, so he made a very crude costume. He found an old white sheet and painted Goomy's markings on it. After cutting out eye and mouth holes, he places the sheet over the head to be his costume. Tornado had no complaints, so Gary thought he was ready to go.
Gary and Goomy walked into the haunted house together. Well, Tornado moved on his slimy body. The Pokemon was a bit intimidated by being in such a scary place, but he acted brave for his trainer. The boy thought the place looked pretty good, but it could have been made spookier. He looked around for anyone he knew, and his eyes stopped on Nate upon recognizing him. "Come on," he said tot he Goomy, leading the way over to his friend. He stopped in front of Nate and offered him a grin. "Hey, Nate. Great costume. Hi, Watcher." He smiled down at the Eevee.

Nate picked up a chocolate cupcake made to look like a Pumpkaboo. After deciding it tasted good, he gave the Pokemon version to Watcher. Then he turned and observed the other students as the started to trickle in. A person dressed in a sheet caught his attention. The Pokemon with him was a Goomy, so he supposed that was what he was trying to look like. The costume was pretty funny, though. And he was coming right towards him! He held in a laugh as the sheet talked to him, and he recognized the voice as belonging to Gary. "Hey, Gary," he said once he was able to speak. "Thanks. Your costume is awesome too." It was certainly creative.
Watcher smiled at the Goomy. He could not remember meeting him before. <Hello. I'm Watcher.> He could tell the other Pokemon was a little nervous, and he wanted to make him feel at ease.

When she had mentioned the Halloween Ball to her Pokemon, Cody had been the most excited. This was not a surprise since he was the most energetic of the bunch. She decided she would take him with her; it would be a good chance to spend some time together. She wore a brown shirt and pants to match his fur. She also managed to find a Lillipup mask, and she made a little tail. She thought she looked fine. Cody was jsut excited to be going to a social event. He bounded into the Haunted House before her. She chuckled as she walked in after him. "Wait for me, Cody." She followed him as he made his way to the stage where the music was playing.

Sawyer turned when she heard someone speaking to her. She smiled upon recognizing Faith, the girl she had met in the Pokemon Center. It was good to see her again. Her Bidoof was cute and strong-looking. Maybe they would have a battle some other time. "Hi, Faith. Thanks, so is yours. How are you doing?" She could tell she was excited about this ball. She hoped it would be pretty fun herself.
Kopa swished his tail back and forth as he watched the Bidoof. <Hello.> It was too bad they could not battle her. The other Pokemon looked like a good opponent! His trainer looked funny in that costume. He did not know if he would ever understand human activities.

"Thank you," said Faith. "I"m doing quite well. How are you?" She waited to ask about her Stunky. A ball might not be the best time to bring it up. Hmm... If this was a ball, shouldn't they be taking with boys? Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed two guys talking to each other. She made a mental note to go talk to them later. It was too bad the costumes prevented her from seeing who was cute.
Willy took in the Litleo before responding. He did not seem like a threat, so he gave him a friendly smile. <Hi. I'm Willy. Who are you?> He looked pretty tough. He wondered how much training he had done thus far.

Gary could see that there was something amusing Nate. It was probably the Goomy costume. The Kanto member thought this was a success because that was the reacion he had been hoping for. He wanted to stand out and be noticed. If he could make people feel good in the process, that was a plus. Life was too short for him to take himself so seriously. "Thank you. I made it myself. I caught theis Goomy when I was out watching a Tornado, so I named him Tornado." He thought that was a pretty great idea. Plus, the name gave him an opportunity to boast about his grand adventure. That surely had been a great day. He wondered when the next big storm would hit.
Tornado gave Watcher a timid smile. <Hello. I'm Torndao.> The other Pokemon seemed friendly enough. Maybe he could protect him from all the scary ghost Pokemon that could show up.

"I'm fine," Sawyer said. "I'm hanging in there." This ball should be a good distraction from everything else going on in her life. Come to think of it, she was not quite sure what she was supposed to be doing right now. She could hear music, but there was no one on the dance floor. "I've never been to a ball before. Do you know what it's all about?" At least it was a costume ball and not a fancy ball. She hated wearing dresses. She was also glad she could bring a Pokemon along. Her Litleo made her feel comfortbale in any situation.
<I'm Kopa,> said the Litleo. <How long have you been with your trainer?>

Nate raised his eyebrows when Gary mentioned watching a tornado like it was no big deal. He remembered there being a couple of tornadoes in the past year, but everyone had been warned to stay inside. Wasn't it dangerous to get close to them? Maybe he meant something else. "You watched a tornado... in person... and survived?" If that was true, maybe he had gotten hit in the head with a Pokemon attack. As far as he knew, going towards storms was not normal behavior.
<That's a cool name,> said Watcher. <Have you really seen a live tornado?> If he had, that would be pretty cool!

Gary was surprised by Nate's reaction. Didn't he think storm chasing was cool? Maybe he was just so much in awe that he did not know how to react positively. Yeah, that was probably it. Of course Gary was awesome for having seen a tornado in person. Who could argue otherwise? Choosing risk, facing danger, and coming out alive was what life was all about. "Yes, I did," he said proudly, puffing out his chest. "I watched the tornado in the park and then jumped in a ditch to safety. After that I caught this Goomy. He was pretty brave like me to be out there all alone, which is why we make a great team." Who could ever say anything negative about that story?
Tornado attempted a brave smile. <Yes,> he said, managing to keep his voice from shaking. That day had been terrifying, but he was not about to tell this Pokemon that! <I met my trainer as we watched the tornado together.> At least something good had come of it.

Faith was glad to see that Sawyer seemed fine. She bet this Halloween Ball would lighten her spirits. So, she had never been to anything like this, huh? Well, she would be happy to explain! She had never been to one herself, but she had heard all about them and had always wanted to attend one. "Yes, I do. It's all about dancing and having fun. See those guys over there?" She nodded at Gary and Nate. "Since they don't seem interested in coming over here, we should go ask them to dance." She grinned, excited to get going.
<Since the beginning of the summer,> Willy replied. It had been the start of a great and exciting life. <And you?>

Sawyer stared at Faith oddly as she explained how balls worked. Dancing and having fun sounded good, but they had to dance with guys? She loved boys, but she liked them as friends. She had never had any interest in them romantically. Was that what the other girl was getting at? "I'm not so sure about this," she said nervously. "I've never done anything like this. And shouldn't they ask us?" That was how she thought these things worked. Asking a guy to dance was just intimidating.
<Oh, cool,> said Kopa. <I've been with my trainer since February.> He smiled proudly. They had done a lot of great things since then, and there were more on the way.
